Professor Adam Beaumont at aql HQ

We are thrilled to share that our CEO, Professor Adam Beaumont has won International Director of the Year at the Yorkshire & Humber IOD Awards.

Underpinning the international communications needs of global brands including some of the worlds largest technology scale-ups. As well as BlueWave, Professor Adam Beaumont is founder and CEO of aql, headquartered in Leeds. For the past two decades, aql has built up integrated communications services for tens of thousands of clients across over 20 key countries. As part of these services through aql’s international telecoms and data networks, the team are able to connect clients to their customers in over 150 countries.

Adam’s work to promote international trade and collaboration extends to his work as Consul to the to the Northern Powerhouse and the Isle of Man on behalf of the Republic of Estonia. As well as the global collaborations created through his not-for-profit, NorthInvest and also leading several trade delegations overseas on behalf of the Northern Powerhouse. He was also appointed recently to the Executive board of Eden Project International to help drive Eden’s international impact.

Adam commented on the award,

“As a CEO it’s important to remember to say thanks to our teams. To me, this award is a thank you from the business community and kind recognition for our support for tech throughout the Northern Powerhouse. We rarely share just how broad our impact is globally. This award is a fantastic opportunity to talk about the vast reach our connectivity provides for our clients.”

Adam recently also chaired a panel at the Telegraph Festival of Business on how technology can be used for good within business - bringing immediate international opportunity to startups.
